1. Consider n = 10 then
=SIGN (10) gives 1 (1 represents a positive number)
2. Consider n = -3.5 then
=SIGN (-3.5) gives 0 (-1 represents a negative number)
A SIGN function determines the sign of a number and gives
1 if the number is positive
0 if the number is 0
1 if the number is negative.

n is any real number.
