Select Tool Options
Introduction
In this tutorial, we will explore the select tool and ways to zoom, rotate, duplicate, and transform an image and a drawing.
First we will take a look at the select tool. As we have seen in previous tutorials, the select tool allows you to move objects. You can also use the select tool to freely rotate and resize items.
Zoom and Rotate
- Select an image from your camera roll. File:Example.jpg Drag the image to the wallpaper.
- Select the select tool. File:Example.jpg
- Zoom in by placing two fingers and moving them in a pinching motion. This allows you to zoom in as well as out.
Rotate
Next we will rotate the image.
- Using 2 fingers, press and hold the image by the making a rotation motion.
You will see two additional rectangles. This shows you that you can start rotating your object.
- You can resize it as well by pushing your fingers inward and outward, up or down.
Section Tool Panel
Next let's take a look at the some tools under the select options panel. Under the select tool there are 5 icons that we will take a look at:
- Flip horizontal
- Flip vertical
- Duplicate
- Bring forward
- Send backward
Flip Image
First, we will look at how to flip an image.
- Make sure your image is still selected.
- Press flip horizontal icon. This will flips the image horizontally.
- Press flip vertical icon. This flips the image vertically.
- Next let's duplicate the image.
- Press the duplicate icon.File:Example.jpg This will create another copy of your image.
- The copied image will be automatically selected.
- Move that image to the bottom right so we can see both images.
Now we can move the images by organizing their layer positioning.
- With the second image still selected, press the send back button. File:Example.jpg
As you can see, the selected image is now behind the first image. You can reverse this by pressing the bring forward icon which sends the first image to the back. File:Example.jpg
Section
Next we will explore how the select tool can be used with a drawing.
- Clear the images by selecting the new drawing icon.
- First draw an object by selecting the drawing options icon. This will automatically select the drawing tool. For this example, I will draw a tree. You can add color and change the stroke if you like. The object should be made with two or more separate objects.
- Select the select tool. Notice when I tap on individual parts of the tree, it selects it. You can move the parts around when they are selected. You can adjust the size as well as rotate.
I am going to send the leaves forward so that they are in front of the tree trunk by pressing the bring forward icon. If you wanted to select the entire object, press and hold the select icon. You can adjust and manipulate all objects when they are selected like this.
And that is how you use the select tool and other icons and movements to manipulate images and drawing using the Incredible InGrid App.
